About Gitzell FairTrade

We are a BIPOC, woman-owned home décor and lifestyle brand rooted at the intersection of fair trade and smallholder farming. As proud members of the Fair Trade Federation, Gitzell FairTrade partners directly with women artisans in Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Senegal, and Uganda to create handwoven baskets and home goods for everyday use.

Many of these artisans are also smallholder farmers, weaving in the evenings or during the off-season after tending to their land and families. Through this work, weaving becomes more than craft, it becomes a source of steady, supplemental income that supports education, food security, and long-term financial stability. It also plays a critical role in sustaining smallholder farming, allowing women to remain connected to and in control of their land.

We work closely with our artisan partners to ensure consistent quality, thoughtful design, and reliable income opportunities, building relationships rooted in respect, transparency, and long-term impact. Every piece reflects generations of knowledge, natural materials, and the hands that made it, bringing meaningful, functional design into homes while supporting the communities behind them.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Every basket is uniquely handmade. The photos represent the basket size/shape selection only. Because color selection can vary based on availability. To see our exact current inventory for a specific basket, please email hello@nudgeecostore.com before placing your order.
